Places I Remember

There Are Places I Remember
To hear "In My Life" by The Beatles, click on the white arrow above.

The Midway, Wee St. Andrews Miniature Golf, Studio Club and Krystal - home of the ten cent burger

The Spillway in the 50s, PC Cobb stadium where our high school track meets were held.

Penney's in Casa View and Memorial Auditorium where The Beatles performed in 1964

Love Field, Jim Smith's Casa Linda Mobil, The Republic Bank building and Lucas B&B.

The interior of El Fenix in Casa Linda - mid 50s, Harry Stone Rec Center home of basketball and weekend dances.

Two gone but not forgotten landmarks - Honest Joe's Pawn Shop and The Dr Pepper Plant on Mockingbird

Two views of the Cotton Bowl

The Colony Club (none of us ever went there...honest)
Charco's
White Rock Lake

Braniff headquarters at Love Field (for a really inexpensive date, we often went to Love Field to just sit and watch the planes take off.)
Peavy and Millmar - home base for Bryan Adams High School

Big Town Bowlanes - Exterior and Interior
Other local lanes included Jupiter Bowl and Jack and Jill Lanes

The Dairy Queen on Ferguson at Lakeland attracted hundreds of BA students on the weekends, each spending about a nickel (or less.)

The Big Thicket at White Rock was home to many BA birthday parties
The fountain at NorthPark. If you got there early enough no one would see you wade in and retrieve enough coins to buy a ticket to the NorthPark Cinema.

Fair Park meant thrill rides, games you couldn't win, Elsie The Cow, Freak shows and an occasional field trip to the Science Museum.

Two shots from the 50s: Downtown and Wyatt's Cafeteria in Casa Linda.

After a Saturday morning at the Casa Linda Theater kid show, what could be better than a 5 cent cone at Ashburn's?

Three pretty good choices for a day of fun.

Two familiar Casa Linda sights

Six Flags - the home of "Senior Day" in 1966

Fun places: Bronco Bowl, Memorial Auditorium, Broadway Skateland, Burnet Field - home of the Dallas Eagles minor league baseball team.

"Been there...Loved That."

Keller's Hamburgers, KLIF Studios downtown and the home of many reunions - The Dreyfuss Club

This is a non-profit website. But our growing audience (currently thousands of hits per month) has increased the cost of paying for our server space dramatically. I feel like a bit of a jerk to ask, but if anyone wishes to help defray the server cost you can now donate to our site via PayPal, right here.

Any income above expenses will go to lowering the cost of “CougarPalooza 2016 - 50 Years and Still Roarin’" - our 50th Reunion which will hopefully be free to all ’66 BA grads.
Shameless Plug!
The all-too-real story of Kenny and the Kasuals and the garage band revolution of the sixties.

An uninhibited look at the wild days and wilder nights of Texas' rock'n'roll "garage kings" from two guys who were there when it happened
